If you feel like joining the green movement, it is easy to do. Going green is becoming more of a life style for the average person now days then it used to be. If you are just joining the green movement, you may not be sure where are easy places to begin. Very easy changes can be made in your bathroom to go green.
Consider how you clean your bathroom. There are so many different chemical cleaners out there that are single purpose. There are other options that work just as well, and just take a little more elbow grease to accomplish the same task but safely enough that you would not feel guilty having a nine year old do it for their allowance. Vinegar is a great way to clean most of the surfaces in your bathroom. It is easy as spraying down mirrors, floors, sinks, toilets, and bathtubs and wiping them clean. You cut down your tub of cleaners to a single spray bottle. If you have a little tougher soap scum in your bathroom you can make a great paste out of baking soda to lightly scrub away that scum. Finish off with a simple vinegar rinse and you are done. You will have a clean tub that you won’t mind soaking a baby in immediately after cleaning. Consider removing the anti-bacterial soap. A better choice would be a bar of soap or a non anti-bacterial liquid soap. Resistant bacteria are being created by the amount of anti-bacterial soap we are using. There are many beneficial bacteria that live on our skin that are supposed to be there. By killing all of that bacteria off you are opening your self up for opportunistic bacteria to infect you. Ultimately ditching the anti-bacterial soap is safer for both you and the environment. When it comes time to replace your towels think about renewable or organic options. Organic cotton and bamboo towels are becoming much easier to find in stores now. These are nice towels, but the price is a little higher. Since bamboo is a renewable resource and organic cotton reduces the amount of chemicals being put into the environment you can wrap yourself up and know you are helping your environment. It isn't a big deal at all to make little changes to green up your bathroom routine. Changing what towels you purchase isn't too hard to do. Buying a bar of soap is just as easy to do as anti-bacterial gel. Just little changes can go a long way.How To Keep Your Carpet Clean
January 26th, 2012
Many people prefer to have carpets in portions of their home, but instead they go with hardwood floors because of how difficult carpet can be to keep clean. But actually, many people imagine carpet to be much more difficult to keep clean than it actually needs to be. In fact, it can be quite an easy task to keep your carpet clean, as you will see yourself if you simply follow a few basic tips.
When people walk around outside, their shoes pick up dirt and filth, and they leave this dirt and filth behind them when they walk around your house. Although you might consider this to be a bit of an inconvenience, you should get into the habit of removing your shoes every time you enter your house. You should also make sure that guests know this is a rule of the house; most guests will understand, of course, as they have probably been in many such houses before. You and your guests also need to be careful when you eat and drink in a room that has carpet on the floor. After all, it is difficult to make certain no one ever spills anything at all, and such spills can sometimes ruin a carpet altogether! People often tend to complain about vacuuming, saying that it is so much work and that it seems to do so little to keep the carpet clean. When you do not vacuum your carpets as frequently as you are actually supposed to, you are much more likely to feel this way about vacuuming. On the other hand, if you vacuum once or twice every week, you will easily be able to pull up the dirt on your carpet before it has a chance to settle in. Pets are one of the greatest threats to the cleanliness of your carpet, as they can bring in dirt from outside and spread it all around. If you have a pet, you should make sure you train them to stay out of the rooms in your home that have lighter carpet! Your carpet can last a long time and continue to look great as long as you follow these tips to make sure you are taking good care of your carpet.Keep Your Body Active Through Oudoor Hobbies
January 26th, 2012
Mickie A lot of people complain about the fact that they feel overweight and cannot seem to change this, but they do nothing to even try to change it. Of course, one of the big reasons why a lot of these people do nothing to lose weight is because they think of exercise as a lot of "work." Actually, exercising can be plenty of fun, if you just find something you enjoy doing and begin to engage in it regularly. This will allow you to participate in what amounts to a "hobby," while getting your body in shape at the exact same time.
One of the most basic of these "hobbies" is walking; although this can seem like "work" at first, many find walking to be relaxing. You will even get Vitamin D - which is one of the most important vitamins for our bodies - if you are able to walk while the sun is out. Furthermore, the cardiovascular activity in a low-impact manner can keep your heart in good shape while also helping you relax at the same time. If you have a pool, swimming is another enjoyable "hobby"; and if you do not have a pool, consider a public pool or a pool at a local gym. Swimming is among the best full-body workouts, and it can also be extremely enjoyable! Bicycling is another great workout, one that allows you to explore the world while exercising all at the same time! Bicycling will keep your whole body in shape, and it can also be extremely fun and enjoyable. If you want to combine the exploration of bicycling with the ease of walking, you should try your hand at hiking. With hiking, you can explore the world while also remaining in shape, and even if you live in an urban area, there are probably plenty of great places nearby to engage in hiking! You do not have to hit the gym every day or run 30 miles each week to stay in shape; you can stay in shape simply by finding an outdoor hobby you enjoy, and by indulging in this hobby on a regular basis!Replacing Ice Cream With A Healthier Option
January 25th, 2012
Most people enjoy having ice cream as a nice little treat after dinner; but most of these same people also know that ice cream is not exactly a healthy option! If you are a real ice cream lover, you can certainly keep it as a treat that you indulge in every so often. But you should also make sure ice cream is not part of your nightly routine, and you can do this by uncovering some of the great alternatives to ice cream.
Most people find - when they start to try to cut ice cream out of their routine - that what they really crave is something that is cold and either creamy or juicy. Of course, something that is cold and creamy/juicy, as well as being sweet, probably works best as a replacement. And one possible replacement for ice cream that is on the opposite end of the spectrum is such foods as pineapples and watermelons. Both of these fruits are cold and juicy, and they also have an element of sweetness; what's more, of course, is that they are very healthy! Many people also find that yogurt is a satisfactory after-dinner replacement for ice cream on most nights. You will want to look for yogurt that is made organically and that is not full of sugar; otherwise, it would be just about the same to have a bowl of ice cream! Another treat that many people find to be enjoyable is popsicles - and if you make your own popsicles, they can actually be healthy! All you need is some ice cube trays and toothpicks; freeze some of your favorite juice in the ice cube trays, and use the toothpicks as popsicle sticks! And finally, you can replace something cold and creamy with something that is hot and creamy, trying some after-dinner coffee instead of some after-dinner ice cream. If you are a coffee fan (and if it will not keep you up all throughout the night!), this can be a great way to go. There is no need to cut ice cream out of your diet entirely, but you should make sure you are not eating ice cream every night by finding some alternatives that work for you!Keeping Chickens in the City?
January 25th, 2012
Mickie Many cities are beginning to allow people to keep small numbers of chickens in their yards because interest is growing in knowing where your food is coming from. This has gained even more momentum after the salmonella scare after last year’s mass recall of eggs. Keeping chickens is actually pretty simple and can be an enjoyable hobby.
If you are interested in trying this yourself, the first thing you will need to do is check with the city you live in to see if you can keep poultry. If your city does allow chicken husbandry, you may need to know how many chickens you can keep, the size of the coop you are allowed and other such details. Some cities are very clear that there is no butchering hens are only to be kept for eggs. You may enjoy keeping chickens for eggs if you can follow the cities regulations. You must then plan to build a chicken coop to house your hens. Consider looking at chicken coop guide as a place to start looking at plans. It is important to find a plan that is easy to build, and once it is built it is easy to clean out. You will also need to build a pen for the chickens to reside in along with the coop. You may be wondering when your chickens will start laying eggs. This typically starts around six months of age. Believe it or not you don't need a rooster to get hens to lay eggs. This is a commonly held belief that is incorrect. Your neighbors will be happy not to have a rooster making a ruckus first thing in the morning. Hens are very quiet. You can expect on average an egg a day from each chicken you have. It is great to know exactly where your food is coming from and what conditions your food comes from. Another bonus to keeping chickens is you can begin to compost it with your kitchen scraps. After it is composted your flower gardens will love this nutrient rich soil. Neither the chickens or the coop will smell if they are cared for correctly. Chickens can become just like family pets. Urban chicken keeping can create a great opportunity to teach others about where their food comes from.Get Rid Of Belly Fat
January 24th, 2012
There is a problem that many of us deal with, whether we want to admit it or not. Deny it though we might, try to hide it though we might, it is still there. It can make us feel uncomfortable, self-conscious. It is belly fat, and it will not go away, no matter what we do! If you find yourself in this position, take solace in the fact that you are not alone. In fact, because of the fact that belly fat is so difficult to get rid of, many people deal with it. If you find yourself entrenched in a losing battle against belly fat, here are some tips for turning the tide.
First off, you cannot shed that belly fat just by eating healthy; you also have to exercise. This does not just mean stomach exercises, either; you have to get your cardiovascular system going by doing aerobic workouts. You can get your metabolism going by jogging, walking, bicycling, or swimming three or four days a week. This is vital if you want to shed that pesky flab. Next, you need to work out all parts of your body - not just your stomach. It might seem silly to think that pushups or squats would help you lose stomach fat, but it is true! By working out all parts of your body, you will optimize your body's ability to burn fat. You do not need to work out your body with some sort of extreme, ultra-revolutionary workout. Find a workout that you can enjoy sticking with, and then stick with it! And finally, you can add in those stomach exercises that you thought from the start you would be told to do. Do not just stick with one thing, though; mix it up by doing crunches, sit-ups, and other ab exercises. You will be burning fat in your abdominal area at the same time you are building muscle. You cannot win the battle against belly fat if all you do is eat healthy and do stomach workouts, even though each of these is important. Find a way that you can fit in your full-body workouts and your aerobic exercises, setting up a schedule that will allow you to do this. That belly fat will finally begin to disappear, and you will be thrilled that you made the effort! The Toshiba Thrive Tablet
January 23rd, 2012
Mickie Apple has helped bring touch screen devices into the norm with their ipod itouch, iphone, and ipad. It isn't surprising to see a number of other companies coming on board with their own versions of the tablet. One such tablet trying to give apple a run for it's money is the Toshiba thrive. This tablet is ever so slightly larger then the ipad 2 with about the same functionality. This tablet is powered by android and has an option of an 8, 16, or 32 gig hard drive in it. Having plenty of room to store documents, movies, music, and games.
You can enjoy the Thrives front and back facing cameras for when you wish to chat on skype or other video chat programs. There is also the option to take pictures and videos with the rear facing camera. With capabilities of taking videos at 720p. Making it quite comparable to the ipad2. One of the best features is the tablet texture. It has a rubberized cases which makes it feel stable in your hands instead of that feel like it will slip out at any moment. It also has six different colors to choose from. Another great options is that it comes with quite a few connection options. There is a HDMI output to allow you to easily show videos on HD TVs. You have two USB ports for your convenience. It also has an SD card to make it easy to add extra storage or transfer media. If you are a fan of the android smart phones, the Toshiba thrive may be of great interest to you. I think this tablet will definitely give the ipad a run for its money and it will be interesting to see where these two companies progress with from here with their touch screen tablets.Great Campfire Cooking
January 23rd, 2012
One of the best parts of a family camping trip is the nighttime campfires - firstly because it gives everyone a congregation point, where they can hang out, relax, and chat, but secondly because the campfire means some seriously good eating at the end of the day! If you have a family camping trip on the radar for this summer, here are some great food ideas for you to keep in mind for those campfires - and if you are not planning to take a camping trip this summer, these ideas just might inspire you to change your mind!
Of course, one of the mainstays of the campfire diet is the s'more, but while many people simply roast their marshmallows and throw them on a graham cracker with a couple squares of chocolate, you can actually improve your s'more experience a great deal by simply adding one more step: after you have put the s'more together, wrap it in tin foil and set it on the hot coals for about five minutes. When you unwrap the tin foil, you will have some deliciously melted chocolate to go with the marshmallow you already roasted. The hot dog is another one of the mainstays in the campfire diet, but one thing you might consider is switching from hot dogs to bratwursts; when you roast bratwursts over a fire, you will have a tastier alternative to hot dogs that also fills you up more and keeps better on an extended camping trip! Finally, it will be important for you to pick up a campfire cooking guide if you are hoping to make some truly delicious food on your trip; The Ultimate Campfire Kitchen is an incredible resource, as it has close to six hundred recipes for campfire cooking! When you do campfire cooking the right way, eating around the campfire will not just be something "memorable" and "fun" - it will also be something that is fulfilling and delicious! How To Get The Most Out Of Your Vacation Days
January 22nd, 2012
Mickie If you work on salary, you probably get two weeks of paid vacation every year that you can use in whatever manner you deem best - but in spite of the obvious value of these vacation days, many people fail to strategize in their use of them, and they end up squandering most of the days in ways that are meaningless later on. The biggest value of vacation days lies in the fact that they can be used as a way to help you feel rejuvenated - and when you feel rejuvenated, you will return to work feeling far more equipped to take on your job - and in order for you to truly feel rejuvenated after a vacation day, you will want to make the most out of these days.
When it comes to using your vacation days, there are generally two schools of thought in how to use them - with one side being the idea of using your vacation days to take week-long vacations, and with the other side being to take one day here and one day there. The biggest key to coming back to work feeling rejuvenated if you decide to use your vacation days for a couple week-long vacations is to make sure you take a complete break from work during this week off; it is easy to get stuck thinking about work-related issues all throughout your vacation week, but it is just as easy - and is far more beneficial - to put work out of your mind completely! If you decide to use your vacation days one at a time, aim to use them right up against a weekend, and rather than just sitting at home during this extra-long weekend, take a short trip - as you will be able to get two or three nights of mini-vacation during this time! Of course, you can also combine these two approaches (taking one week of vacation, and taking four weekends of mini-vacations), and when you add the other three-day weekends that come as a result of holidays, you will be full of vacations all throughout the year that will send you back to work feeling entirely rejuvenated and ready to go!Making Your Clients Feel Important
January 22nd, 2012
Many people realize that it is useful for their clients to feel important when they run their own business, but they do not realize that this is actually vital. After all, if you want to keep your clients coming back to you in the long run, one of the biggest things you can do is to offer better service than your competitors offer. Once you learn these simple tips, you will be able to effortlessly make your clients feel important, and will thereby keep them coming back to you over and over again.
Empowering your clients is one of the best ways to make sure they feel important, and you can do this by giving them access to information around the clock. When you build your website, focus on more than just making it look snazzy; you should also make sure that you have an FAQ section that answers the questions they might be coming to ask. Your website will be a lot more useful to clients if you make it as complete and accessible as possible. Getting more customers and clients! You should also go to your clients to give them updates, instead of making your clients come to you. If you utilize such places as facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, you can go to your clients at the places where they hang out online. Also, you should allow your clients to sign up for an email list that will provide them with updates as updates emerge. When your clients come to you with a question, you will want to always make your best effort to answer the question as quickly and completely as possible. Your clients will not want to wait several days for an answer to their question, and they will not find a vague answer to be very useful! You should aim to set aside a certain time of day during which you will answer emails, and you should always pay attention to make sure you provide answers that are complete and useful. How To Find New Clients And Business Finally, always pay close attention to ensure that you are treating your clients exactly the way you yourself would want to be treated. As you add this element to the other elements, your clients will know that you are remaining loyal to them, and they will repay this by remaining loyal to you.
