Weekly update: When sidewalks attack
Have you ever just been walking along and then gracefully hit the ground? Well, that isn’t what happened to me. I never really do anything gracefully. I am more of a bull in a china closet kind of gal. I blame my mother for not putting me back in dance classes after I, yet again, not so gracefully fell from a privacy fence breaking my femur bone. But that is not the point of the entry here.
We went to Copenhagen the other day. Hoofy Poofy had to go there to find out his CR number or whatever it is called there so he can work in Denmark. He starts a new job in September(WEE!). The day didn’t start out good and I was pissy because at 1pm we were still in Malmö. After I threw my fit and Hoofy Poofy made his way around Malmö (alone and then calling me to join him after I had calmed down) before heading to Copenhagen, it was 2 or 3pm. Not the day I had planned.
So we are just walking along when I swear there was this piece of sidewalk that was stuck up about 5 inches. Hoofy Poofy says it was only 1 MAYBE 2 inches but I swear it could have been a curb! Next thing I know I am flying through the air like a ballerina on crack and the whole time I am thinking
“Should I put my hands out? If I don’t I am going hit face first and knock out a bunch of teeth but if I put my hands out I risk breaking my wrists. Dilem….”
Then I hit. And it wasn’t graceful. No. No it wasn’t. I sat there and couldn’t even cry because I couldn’t decide if it hurt THAT bad, if I was just in shock or if I was more embarassed than anything else. Then I moved. It hurt. I skinned not one, but BOTH knees and I bruised not one but BOTH palms. So there I was, sitting on the sidewalk in Copenhagen trying to gather my composure so I could get my fat ass up off the sidewalk without any more embarassment.
About 20 minutes later, after I had sortof stopped limping, stopped the bleeding from my little cut on my palm and could feel the redness from my face leaving, I asked Hoofy Poofy if it at the very least looked graceful.
He just laughed.
Damn sidewalks!!!!

Happens down here too. I think it’s a worldwide sidewalk conspiracy… Maybe they are getting tired of being walked all over and trampled to death?
So, if he’s working in Denmark and you’re going to school in Sweden… hmmmm, could be a long, cold, dark winter for the Duck!
