Musical Monday

Sometimes I fear I am a Drag Queen caught in a woman’s body…which I guess wouldn’t be so bad but I usually have no fashion sense. I would make a horrible Drag Queen. Hell, I would even make a horrible Camp Drag Queen!

Anyway, what does this have to do with Musical Monday? Well, Hello! The Divine Miss M that’s what!

I was having a complete Drag Queen day on Saturday. I popped in her CD (STFU I looooove her!!!!) and felt a spark. Suddenly I had on make-up, fixed my hair and was prancing around the apartment in my underwear trying to find a bra that made my boobs go UP and OUT! I had on enough lip liner and foundation to make even the best Drag Queen jealous.

I was fierce!

Not her video but I can’t find one for it. I just love the song! It says so much that I just can’t help but feel marvie when I leave the house after listening to it.

    I’m scared of dragqueens.
But then I’m scared of anything taller than me with long nails, stiletto pumps and a penis…

I’m just doing a drive-by and taking a look. Does “Divine Miss M” refer to the album by Bette Midler, or am I misunderstanding?

  • DaDuck says:

    RT
You have it half right. It is a name of one of her albums but her fans know her as The Divine Miss M.

  • DaDuck says:

    D-man,
hahaha, well, yes, that is scary ;)

I heart drag queens. In fact, I just had a post about drag queens yesterday! I love their general sense of fabulousness, love of sequins and high heels, and the shitloads of make-up that they wear.

  • DaDuck says:

    Monique,
I just feel so intimidated by a man who looks better in make up and skirts better than I do (and who can walk in high heels)! INTIMIDATED I tell ya!!!!!!! :glurps_tb:

I know that drag queen in a woman’s body feeling….when I get all gothed up to go out, I’m just a little scared of becoming a drag queen parody of myself…..Bette Midler brings that out in me, alas.

My daughter and I went to Gay Pride in Brighton with some friends, and M____(aged 4 then) saw an outrageous drag queen with feathers in her hair. She said “when I grow up, I want to look like that…..” then paused and added “she looks a lot like you Mummy”. Didn’t know whether that was a compliment or an insult!

  • DaDuck says:

    Khlari,

hahaha, I remember those days. AAAAAAAAAAH the velvet, the black, the hairfalls….ooh the good old days. I am just lazy now. Now that I look back on it I did look a little drag queenish!
